Green Manganese Produces First Metallized Manganese Pellets from Mining Tailings
3/25/20261 min read

We have successfully produced our first batch of manganese pellets from industrial waste — mining metallurgical tailings (16% Mn) and electric arc furnace dust (~20% Mn). The pellets contain more than 85% manganese with ultra-low impurity levels (P+S < 0.01%), meeting the specifications for modern steelmaking and manganese alloy production.
Our manganese pellets are a direct alternative to electrolytic manganese metal — the high-purity manganese used in steel production that is not produced in Canada, the US, or Europe. Waste accumulated at industrial sites in these countries over a century opens a path to environmentally responsible and cost-effective domestic production.
"Producing high-purity manganese pellets from industrial waste proves that our technology can turn stranded domestic resources into commercial-grade material. This is the first step toward a North American manganese supply chain that doesn't depend on imports," says Alexey Demykin, CEO of Green Manganese Technologies.
"We are thrilled to see the first physical product from Green Manganese. The pace of progress has been remarkable — and we already have a long list of customers waiting for the final product," says Erik Eriksson, Scandinavian Steel AB.
We are now preparing for steel casting trials. If your company is interested in participating, reach us at maria@greenmanganese.com
